Can you help us preserve 440 acres of land?
During the Centre Gives 36-hour online giving event, CCFT hopes to raise enough money for the cost of one easement.
Our Centre Gives fundraising goal is $12,000.
That’s the estimated cost of ONE of three new agreements in the works to preserve 440 acres of undeveloped land in Centre County!
May 14-15 is the Centre Gives 36-hour Online Giving Event

The owners of three distinct, private properties representing a total of 440 acres of undeveloped land in Centre County have decided to preserve their properties, sacrificing their development rights for the greater good. Can you help us preserve these 440 acres?
They are working with the Centre County Farmland Trust on conservation easements designed to protect the land and its natural resources from development.
“These are beautiful and significant lands,” says CCFT President Dan Guss. “We can’t wait to share more details about this great news — just as soon as these easements are finalized.”
Conservation easements are legally binding restrictions attached to the property’s deed. They are designed to preserve the property no matter who owns the land in the future. They take many months to complete — and cost $10,000 to $20,000 per property. That’s the cost of preparing drawings and legal documents, plus establishing stewardship funds for each of the properties.
Our goal for Centre Gives: $12,000

Thankyou Donors — YOU Make our Work Possible
Since we shared news of these new easements in the works, our donors stepped up during the holiday season and helped pay a portion of the cost of one of them.
Now, we’re hoping people who have not donated to preserving farmland for awhile — or ever! — and are learning about how How Farmland Benefits Us All, will help pay to preserve these acres.
CCFT is a small non-profit land trust that has paid the cost of the easement, in addition to the cost of annual monitoring visits to fulfill its responsibility to maintain and protect the easement going forward.
Our Trust has 1,483 acres of private farmland and open land in the Centre Area under the protection of legally binding conservation easements that prevent the land from being developed. Every year, we visit each of those 17 properties of preserved land to uphold those easements and fulfill our responsibility to protect those lands.
